Danebank JS Athletics Carnival
Date: Thursday 26th May, 2022
Venue : The Sylvania Athletics Track, 225R Belgrave Esplanade, Sylvania Waters
Time: Girls can arrive from 8:45 am. Carnival commences 9.00am.
The carnival is a normal school day and attendance for all girls is compulsory. No girls will be permitted to leave before the conclusion of the carnival at 2.00pm.

Uniform: School sports uniform. Please ensure your daughter has adequate clothing for all weather conditions and that all items are clearly labelled
Transport: Students can either arrive by private transport or catch a bus from school to the oval and back.
If your daughter requires Bus transport to the carnival, the buses depart from the school Bus Bay (The Avenue) at 8.00am SHARP. The buses will return to school by 3.00pm (inadequate time for students that wish to travel on the mini buses). A mask is required on the bus.
Please note: Danebank School buses will not be available on this morning, but will be available (as per usual from school) in the afternoon.
Pick-up: at the conclusion of the carnival 2.00pm, unless there is a deterioration in the weather. This could result in an earlier finish time. Any student who does not have a parent/carer present to transport them home by 2.00pm will be placed on a bus and returned to school.
Additional Information: The track is an all-weather track, so if there are light showers on the day the carnival will still go ahead. In the event of extreme weather, parents/carers will receive a text message by 7:00am on the morning of the carnival. In the case of a cancellation a normal school day will apply.
There will be NO CANTEEN FACILITIES available. Ensure that your daughter has adequate nutritious food and water that she will require until the completion of the day (2.00pm)
Spikes are permitted at the carnival for the 100m & 200m races, but please ensure that the maximum spike length used is 6mm and that they are suitable for synthetic tracks. Any competitor using spikes must use a set of blocks.
Please encourage your daughter to enter the appropriate races. Age is the age on the 31st December 2022.
All girls are to sit in their house groups on this day. Parents are most welcome to attend.

IPSHA Athletics Carnival
DATE: Monday 29th August, 2022
TIME: 8.15am – 3.00pm
VENUE: Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre
UNIFORM: Danebank tracksuit, sports shirt, shorts and hat
Athletics singlets may be purchased from the uniform shop.
NEED TO BRING: Recess, lunch and drinks, hat and sunscreen
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Wet Weather– the carnival will be on irrespective of weather.
- Canteen facilities are available.
- Track events and field events will run concurrently. Field event participants must inform officials at their Event if they wish to be excused in order to participate in a track event.
- Running spikes are permitted in the 100m and 200m sprints, the 4 X 100m relays, high jump and long jump provided the following guidelines are followed:
Spikes are to be carried to and fitted in the marshalling area ONLY and must be removed trackside after the event.
They are NOT to be worn at any other time.
Any athlete breaking the above conditions will be denied the use of the spikes for the rest of the meeting.
