Application Process
The School Sports Captain
- Year 12, the student nominates to be a prefect – if then selected in the final 15, the Prefects and staff vote. The student with the most votes for Sports Captain is given the position.
Captain of a Particular Sport
- Submit a “Nomination for Captain of a Sport” through iDanenet, Danebank Sports
- Senior Students are able to submit an ‘expression of interest’
- Undergo an interview with PDHPE Head of Department and the teacher in charge of the sport
- The final decision will be approved by the Principal
Team Captain
- The Team captain is decided by the Team Coach and team members (optional – up to Teacher in Charge)
Job Description
The School Sports Captain
- Assist the PD/H/PE Staff with all aspects of sport
- Present an interesting Sports report at weekly assemblies, recognise the sporting achievements of all students
- Promote sport in the school
- Role model for students – exemplary conduct, sportsmanship, and application to students
- Represent school at all major sporting events
- Write “Sports Report” for magazine by the end of term 3
- Attend IGSSA events ie. Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics (where applicable)
Captain of a Particular Sport
eg. Tildesley Tennis, Gym, Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country and all Saturday Sports
- Promote your particular sport in the school
- Assist teacher-in-charge of your sport eg. equipment, results, packing kits, coaching, administration
- Role model for players – attendance, attitude, and application at training and games. Exemplary conduct at all times as well as application to studies
- Liaise with School Sports Captain
- Write a report for your sport and hand to teacher in charge at end of competition
- Present this a final report at assembly at the conclusion of your term of sport. This will be the report which is included in the school magazine.
- Liaise with all team captains – check attendance at training etc
- Assist with the end of season function eg: organise venue, payment, transport in conjunction with the teacher in charge of sport.
Team Captains
- Role model for all players at training/games. Be on time, help organise equipment etc, train/play to the best of your ability, thank the opposition/coach/referee/umpire for the game, organise a team cheer for the end of the game
- Encourage and promote fair play and good sportsmanship at all times
- Check equipment and report any problems to the teacher in charge or captain of sport
- Liaise with captain of your sport re info for assemblies, newsletters and reports
- Assist coach or teacher in charge where necessary
